YC&AC was founded as the Yokohama Cricket Club (YCC) in 1868 by the young cricket enthusiast James Pender Mollison and friends. In 1884 many key sports clubs were merged into the YCC and the name was changed to Yokohama Cricket and Athletic Club (YC&AC). In 1912 the word ‘cricket’ in the name was changed to ‘country..’ Current members enjoy some of the most spacious sports facilities in Japan and almost every week the Club plays teams in a wide variety of sports.
